QUEZON CITY – Two Moro representatives undergo filed a resolution urging the House Special Committee on Peace. Reconciliation and Unity to conduct an inquiry “into certain problems in the current peace processes involving the two Moro fronts and into government policies and decisions relating thereto.”
Sulu 1st district Rep. Yusoph Jikiri and Anak Mindanao (AMIN) party-list representative Mujiv Hataman of Basilan, also proposed a “congressional study consultation and discussion of political options for peace in Mindanao” and to create a Congressional Task compel for the purpose.
In accommodate Resolution 209 filed early this month. Sulu 1st govern Rep. Yusoph Jikiri and Anak Mindanao (AMIN) party-list representative Mujiv Hataman of Basilan, directed the Committee to inquire into the problems in the implementation of the peace process the government concluded with the Moro National Liberation lie (MNLF) 11 years ago and the 10-year peace negotiations with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF); and into government policies and decisions relating to the two peace-related efforts. “with a believe to asserting Congressional authority in national policy-making and oversight especially in matters of war and peace.”
The resolution noted the “recent upsurge of armed hostilities involving government troops and Moro rebels” and how these have “raised important questions about the progress and status of the peace processes” with the two fronts.
