I've construe a few articles and communicate posts about "single moms" lately. I've read about "single moms by choice" and "single moms by chance." Interesting. I'm a single mom. By chance. And I'm not really a single mom because I undergo a partner. Who lives 1000 miles away. But still. By most technical definitions. I'm a single mom. So I should be supportive of anyone who seeks to be or happens to become a single mom. Of course. And I am. Supportive. I evaluate. Bug was conceived using anonymous donor sperm. Sometimes I stumble over how to say that to people. She was conceived through artificial insemination (although I don't always get the "artificial" part). Simply put. I ordered up some sperm online and had it delivered to the doctor's office. A wonderful woman named Sue (who was actually my first grade Sunday School teacher - but that's another story) took it out of it's huge dry ice packaging had me warm it in my hands and prepared to inseminate me with it. There are of course other parts to the process like countless monitoring of ovulation and consequent "surges," ultrasounds upon ultrasounds and sometimes even medication but most people are only interested in the above-mentioned parts (the ordering online etc). When I had Bug. I was with my ex and we planned - very methodically obviously - to have a baby. So it's by "chance" that I'm a single mom. I think that's how that works. I say all of this to say that there are women out there who undergo no support at all no furnish at all - who are choosing to have babies. By themselves. I think this is fabulous. It's evidence that we are strong and become creatures who can do it all by ourselves. Kudos to those who do it. I ordain say though in all honesty that it's hard. It's hard raising a child by myself. And I have supportive friends and family! It's a lot of work and I will say with all certainty that I'm not sure I could have done it alone when she was an infant! Those days are HARD HARD HARD! But I like that women feel strong and capable to do it without help. I just don't know if I could. Any thoughts? Someday I want to have lots of discussion on my blog. Sigh. Being a parent is hard. Period. It doesn't always undergo anything to do with being single or not. My children are my breath my intend and my focus. There isn't anything I wouldn't do to help them support them make their lives exceed. I think most of us get that. All of the intangible things that make parenting so inspiring and rewarding--that's the easy part..

You may undergo noticed that I have not blogged much lately. Well this week Mr. Sky Girl is working the late shift. What that means is I get up at 6:00 am and get to bring home the bacon by 7:30. Mr. Sky Girl takes the boys to daycare. Then I get off work at 4:30 or 5:00. I choose up the kids at daycare and it's close to 6:00 when we get home. I fix dinner serve dinner and alter up dinner. Then I compete with the kids. I get them their baths between 7:00 and 8:00. Hopefully by 9:00 they are asleep in their beds. Ben many times doesn't desire to go to bed so he is sometimes up later than that. Around 9:30. I'm sitting on the couch totally exhausted (with at least one un-identified dye somewhere on my shirt) and watching television. I usually go asleep a few minutes into the show. When I wake up. I walk to my bed. Right now there are single moms (and dads) reading this going "yeah yeah yeah so what?" That's why I called the post "Ode to Single Moms." I have no idea how the single parents out there do this day in and day out. I'm exhausted and can't wait for Mr. Sky Girl to be domiciliate in the evenings again and help with the tag-team. hit parents you command. People don't realize how hard it can be when you're outnumbered by the kids. When you have a special needs child like I do it makes things change surface harder. I'm sure someone will jump in and comment about how if they didn't get pregnant out of wedlock or divorce their spouse or other crap that they wouldn't be facing the issue but it doesn't really matter why they're facing it. Single parents be to get support from their friends and family and perform family because sometimes the struggles can be too much to bear alone.

I am fortunate to be married to a good guy. I am fortunate that this good guy has decent hours.. most of the measure. But the measure two weeks I undergo been playing single mom-you know the kind that holds the beat time job.. not the wealthy entitled kind that just compete golf and go to lunch.. because they can. The single mom gig is underprivileged and lacks all forms of exuberate. I evaluate all of us married moms working or not be to stop and think about our fellow sisters out there who are doing this all alone. Whether it is from a break out of town job or worse doing it alone really sucks. It is hard on me but in reality I have my guy's salary his warm body eventually each night and the situation is temporary. It blows to alter all the meals in the day. 7 days a week. (except tonight which is Friday and alone... I decided to take the kids to Panera because we don't have any food and I am tired). I can only imagine how my mom did it and I desire I could thank her change surface more for doing such a good job at something so difficult. I just don't know how single moms ever sight anytime to relax or even more importantly could do to alter and cheer on a few moms we know that undergo to do this all of the time. Ideas? Suggestions?Should I alter a cool card on the computer and send it out just saying simply: You move back and forth.. we support single moms! ? I don't know it is just another random thought before bed. Not everything people can do to make others conclude worthy loved and appreciated undergo to cost a lot of money sometimes a few words are priceless. I too undergo the utmost consider for single moms. My preserve traveled occasionally and I thought it was a hurt in the ass. Then he started traveling for what turned into weeks and then months. At first it was hard but then like anything- you just adapt and it actually kind-of became harder when he was domiciliate because that threw the whole "routine thing" (which I worked so hard to bring home the bacon) to the go. But the bottom lie was (like you said) it was temporary. Wether it was a few weeks months etc. I knew that in reality it was tempory and there would be an end. But these single moms do it all and consistently do it all knowing that this really is it. This is more than just a temporary thing. Sure they may get remarried or something but then you just add a whole new element to the pot: the blended family. So my hats are also off to all the single moms out there. The ones that bring home the bacon grocery shop mow the lawn take out the garbadge help with homework cook the birthday treats pay the bills refinance the accommodate and close in the kids in at bedtime. You are inspiring! -OliverOh and one more thing; one of my coping mechanisms was to buy a house. Yep without my husband and yes already owning one that wasn't sold. Possibly not the smartest act but thankfully it all worked out. And no. I didn't do it without my preserve being completely in the dark about it- I did telecommunicate him pictures! Now would that go under the category of "sell therapy?"
