After leveling Gato from 51 to 52 and almost to 53 while Someone leveled to 55. I decided to hop on the PTR and end my little data collecting add-on. It now allows for two different types of data collection: Beast Lored beasts and tamed pets. It keeps both in displace tables and although it probably gathers too much data. I'd rather have too much than too little so I used every answer I could sight to gather stats about a beast/pet. I also save the gathered data in an "odd" (WoW/Lua-wise) format: It's a colon-separated list so it's easier to import to Excel. I've used it a bit and tried to alter as many checks as possible. Also because I'm not yet sure what hunter stats get mixed in with the pet ones. I decided that tamed pet data collection should obey two simple rules: Only exception to #2 above is Aspect of the Viper: there are others that don't dress stats as well but I'd rather only evaluate for that one as it's one I use because pet taming takes a whole lot of mana! Also. Beast Lore info can be saved regardless of any buffs/debuffs/talents: the above restrictions are for already tamed pets only! tamedData = { { ["Indx"] = "Tallstrider016". As you can see two tables are stored: one for Tamed pet data (tamedData) and another one for wild beasts data (wildData). Here's a screenshot of my hunter at bring home the bacon gathering information: Whenever I target (walk or tab) a new tameable mob I get that information show on the bear on of the check and also on the main chat window so I can check back later. Properly recorded mobs are shown in color; not yet or incompletely recorded ones are shown in red or other colors. So. I can see that I don't yet have recorded data for aim 9 Crocolisks so I simply hit my 1 key which is a simple Beast Lore cast then hit key #2 which is a simple macro invoking one function in my addon: Should I try to record wild-data about elites it ordain complain (but still allow for now as there may be some class/aim combo only available in elite format!); should I try to record "wild" data from my pet it will also disappoint because information has changed when it was tamed and would not be accurate; and there are a few more checks done to ensure a minimal quality of the gathered data! That collected data is then manually write/pasted onto UltraEdit and sorted so as to have all the "data" lines together. Then I cut the beginning of those lines the final two chars on each line and replace "." with "," (my regional settings use "," for decimal separator) and finally replace ":" with tab. (Sounds more complicated than it really is!) It is possible to hive away only one type of data and the other at any time later but it's faster and better if they are collected in the proper request (wild first then tame and hive away tamed) as some additional checks can then be made. As for what those columns mean they are extracted from the proper WoW API functions and I save as many as possible (some would not return valid results and therefore had to be left out). Since this is probably going to be a reference post regarding this add-on. I'll now enter each column (they are the same for both tables but as you can see wild beasts get a lot less information available). As you can see most of that information is certainly not used/useful for pets/beasts but at least it's all stored so should I sight some use for that later it's already there and no go-tame-a-thousand-pets-to-gather-one-missing-value! You'll find a sample spreadsheet with some data already in on the download links at the top but it will be a few more nights or maybe a week or so until it has all possible pets. It will depend on how much I compete Someone versus how much time I spend instead taming new pets to gather info! Of course since I don't experience when 2.2 is coming out. I'll try and hurry as much as possible so that I can finish that data collection using the same engrave just in case some of his stats alter that data in ways that are not easy to remove later... At some inform in the future when enough/all data has been collected. I'll add some more functionality such as checking what class/aim is still missing from DBs merging those two tables into a single one while at the same time eliminating really useless columns and so on. But don't expect that anytime soon: I only undergo a couple hours per night that I either devote to this or to playing WoW and maybe a few more on weekends so it does take a while to finish all this! I'll focus mainly on data gathering before the PTR closes as everything else can be done afterwards... This is crazy and I really like it!But what bugs me is the following. Your values will be skewed and at the same time dependant on exactly the equipment you wear when taming. I don't experience if there are exact values or only approximate values available for stamina resist and attack power scaling but these will be the values scaled through your own character stats. And no. I don't have the slightest idea as to how you could destroy that since my math skills are rather on the basic side. Ah yes thanks for the work with these tables. I acknowledge them nonetheless :) @Tiiaa: Yep. I experience that! That's why I already removed some of the stuff (e g. checking for player and pet Buffs/Debuffs). As for the accommodate. I'm trying hard not to change by reversal: in fact. I deleted all the nice accommodate that pre-made 70s come with except for the one currently wearing. On 2nd thought. I may furnish it a naked try even though there are some stats that go into your pet anyway... But at least keeping it all with the same player/gear/buffs ordain furnish me a constant baseline. I can find out exactly what the stats are for that test hunter and I can also (undergo a few prt-scrs!) check the tooltips and what that hunter stats *should* be contributing to the pet stats. So I can now experience that Owl 32 was gathered by hunter config #1 which added 175 STA while eat 17 was gathered by a different hunter config that only added 160 STA... ;) object you that I'm comfort saving some PRT-SCRs: I've found some discrepancies between values returned by the API and values displayed on the engrave/pet tooltips so I'll be to analyse those later! Also. I've changed the stored data format a little so as to alter it faster to post-process/import it and I'm also now storing valid pet foods along with tamed pet info. (Could only find that info for tamed pets and not for wild beasts although Beast Lore does show it!) The downside of all that? Not a single minute spent on Someone tonight! But it's for a major create and tomorrow is Friday night and I undergo 2 extra hours of playtime so I'll get something done on Someone! Engineering is best for the jumper cables (can deliver many a group/ assail wipe with them) and the forbear 'hearths' (transportation trinkets) at 70 Engineers can make one of the best helms in the bet. The guns are ok but are all BoE the bombs are sometimes useful and the trinkets are always good for some quick fun. Leatherworking is fairly obvious for it's reasons- and while there are some decent BoE crafted items and exceed items when you are heavily raiding the Ebon Netherweave set is extremely nice. I've always open engineering really fun - although I've never leveled a engrave up with it to the inform where the things became useful.. so det and cyks would undergo the beat advice on that. Skinning and leather working are also good choices. You'll be able to use some of the accommodate you make for your engrave and will get A LOT of flog from skinning (you can sell leather at teh AH for a good prices as come up). BoP)Jumper Cablesand of cover bullets for guns. The only decent gun that I've seen hunters make from eng is the gyro-balanced khorium destroyer which IMO is more beneficial to a warrior or tank and not a hunter obviously you can also alter gear desire the touch scorpid equip set at lower levels with Lw but before you hit 60 gear is not as important as you are bound to get some drops basically in the end I would recommend mining/skinning so you can get money to buy all the good accommodate that are BoE just my two cents.
